This is the second in a series of conversations about the future of volunteer-run events. The first event included conversations about how to share resources and create networks between events that are run by their participants, like fan-run conventions. If you’re interested in talking about ways to make peer-run events more sustainable, welcoming, and fun, please join us!

This event will be hosted at Butler University by Dr. James McGrath, and moderated by Matt Arnold. Matt’s experience with community-run organization includes board experience with Penguicon, Lakes of Fire, and i3 Makerspace, each of which gathers people in physical spaces organized by their participants. His interest in looking toward the future of these spaces led him to create the first ReConvene in Detroit in April. After participating in that event, several of our Starbase volunteers invited him to Indianapolis to run a similar event here.
