We are so excited about our STEM educational track, and ESPECIALLY our Student Sunday Science fair we would love to have your Girl, Boy, Navigator, Camp Fire, or other enrichment program enrolled scout come visit us, Thanksgiving weekend at the Wyndham Indianapolis West.

Homebrew on the Starbase!

Brewmaster Skip is coming in from Ohio to teach you how to homebrew your own beer. Learn how to get started or perfect what you have been doing already.

Homebrewing is part of the SBI applied science track that also includes designing your own solar panel array and perfecting your mixology game.

Come Saturday to learn about beer and liquor and then join the Party Crawl with Interplanet Janet for an inter-galactic introduction to parties that start with the March for Science, "Ask a Scientist" reception and end the evening docking with the USB Indycent, "Get Schwifty" Rick and Morty themed party and free-pour bar.

Kyle Hill, science editor for the Nerdist, is a funny, smart, and geek-tac-ular science educator. Check out his YouTube Channel to see what I mean.. the, "Because Science" segments are excellent but my favorites are MUSKWATCH for pure smarty fun. He will be around Saturday night at Starbase Indy if you would like to join him for Dinner with the Stars and will be appearing and speaking Sunday with Dr. Noor from Duke University to have some fun debating the science of Star Trek vs. Star Wars.

Cosplay on the Starbase Friday Night 11/24/17

After you've finished with family time on Thanksgiving, hop a shuttle to Starbase Indy and the Wyndham West Hotel Friday starting at 3pm for the Unbirthday Tea Party meet and greet, spend some time enjoying Cosplay panels and getting your look straight, show off your best costume in the contest for ages 14 and up at 8pm, and have a blast at the Karaoke Cosplay party starting at 10pm!

Children on the Starbase

Bring your children to the Starbase Thanksgiving Weekend for a good time at the Indianapolis Wyndam West. Kids 13 and under are admitted free all weekend. The schedule is packed with fun for the whole family.. including a Geeky Shopping Experience, Puzzle Room, and chance to see Astronaut Dr. David Wolf. Sunday features an interactive Science fair, Star Wars activities, and a costume contest for kids 13 and under starting at 10AM.

The Kobayashi - Maroom! A Star Trek themed puzzle room from Starbase Indy

You and up to 4 other SBI badge holders can now enter a live action Star Trek: TOS simulation and use Science, Technology, Mathematics, and Engineering to solve logistical problems. This Premium SBI event is free with your admission to the Indianapolis Thanksgiving Weekend convention. Space will be limited so register early to secure your chosen time slot!

Each event will be paced as:

  • Start – 5 minutes after: Rally and select characters
  • 5 – 10 minutes after: Review rules and instructions
  • 10 – 25 minutes after: Players will be allowed into simulation for 15 minutes to complete the puzzle. At 15 minutes the simulation will end.

SBI ticket holders can pre-register for their chosen spot through Eventbrite to secure their time and day. Please bring your tickets with you! If you have not yet procured a badge you are not permitted to pre-register for or attend this activity.

Onsite, a sign-up sheet will be available during open hours. Additional hours may come available based upon staffing availability.

  • Friday: 1-5pm and then 7 – 9pm
  • Saturday: 9am – 11am, 1pm – 5pm
  • Sunday: Noon – 3pm



Are there minimum age requirements to enter the event?

No, you are welcome to bring children of any age but you are responsible for their actions. If they damage props you are responsible for any financial impacts. If they are disruptive you will be asked to step outside with them. Children under the age of 13 are not permitted to enter without an adult escort.


What can I bring into the event?

Please do not bring any bulky props as the space is confined.

Neil will be in town a week after Starbase Indy but he has given The Starbase four tickets to give away to Starbase Indy attendees!! We will be holding two raffles: one among all the people who successfully complete the puzzle room and a second for all the individuals who DO NOT complete the puzzle room.
